Cattle: An increase of 400 head brought a penning of 1,300 mixed quality cattle. There were few vealers, but an increased yarding of 470 yearling steers and heifers, as well as 160 cows came forward. There were only 68 grown steers and heifers penned along with 43 bulls. Quite a few cattle came off crop along with a good run of heifer vealers straight off the cows. The usual buyers were present and operating with reduced prices.
There was a general cheaper trend on all classes, weaner steers particularly, but less numbers were a big factor. The heifer portion was firm to slightly cheaper. Both steer and heifer yearlings also cheaper.
Heavy cows maintained last sale prices, there was almost no re-stocker interest in light cows. Bulls showed a dearer trend.

Sheep: It was an increased penning of 4,330 lambs and 1,700 grown sheep, up by 300 head on a fortnight ago. There was a good supply of well finished trade, heavy and extra heavy lambs on offer, with all the usual processors present. There was no re-stocker activity.
All lambs showed a cheaper trend with the heavy end easing $10 from two weeks ago and trades were back by $10 to $12/head. Grown sheep were in short supply, but they too, were cheaper. Local sales: J & A Doak 46kg xb lambs $129 and the store lamb portion $92.
