Cattle: There was a reduced number yarded by 190 total 400 head, following last week’s rain. There was a very mixed yarding of cattle with a few pens of cattle starting to come off crop, however most of the cattle were in plain condition. With the exception of an odd yearling suitable for the trade, all the young cattle went to either re-stockers or feeders.
The market was firm to dearer, with re-stocker vealer steers selling 20c dearer topping at 429c, while re-stocker vealer heifers gained 5c to 10c selling to a top of 355c/kg. Feeder and re-stocker yearling steers sold firm to slightly dearer topping at 387c/kg. The odd trade yearling heifer sold to a top of 368c/kg.
The small penning of export cattle was made up mainly of cows. There were a few grown heifers and they sold to a top of 323c/kg. Cows were 4c to 6c dearer with heavy weights selling to a top of 269c/kg.
