Cattle: There was a smaller yarding this week of 960 head consisting of a fair number of weaners along with a good supply of yearlings and cows were in fair supply. Quality of the younger cattle was fairly plain although there was some good runs of well bred cattle through the sale. The sale was generally dearer with re-stocker vealer heifers up by 3c to sell to a top of 287c/kg but re-stocker vealer steers were back by 10c to sell to a top of 337c/kg. Re-stocker feeder steers sold 3c to 10c cheaper to average 304c/kg and light feeder steers sold to a top of 327c/kg for the better bred cattle. Trade yearling heifers sold to 308c and feeder type heifers sold to 5c dearer to top at 284c/kg. Export cattle consisted mostly of cows with a few pens of steers and heifers sprinkled through the sale. Steers sold to 289c and heifers to 263c, medium cows averaged 225c/kg and heavy cows to top at 249c/kg with light cows holding firm.
